Wrapping up – Lead up to the Rave New Year (Part 1)

We celebrate January 1 as the New Year and here’s why the Rave New Year makes more sense.

Have you made New Year’s Resolutions, ready for the New Year? Are you feeling energetic resistance? Do you have a pattern of not following through these resolutions within the first quarter of the year?

We are now into January 2022. It’s been the tradition to celebrate it as the start of a new year. It is indeed the start of a new cycle, of the Gregorian calendar and a new lunar cycle, with the New Moon on January 2.

In Human Design, we celebrate the Rave New Year. This is when the Sun moves into Gate 41, which relates to the start codon and the amino acid methionine. So the weeks before January 22, 2022 is not time to initiate, make resolutions, or otherwise begin something new. (Unless of course your inner authority guides you there!). We are in the Quarter of Mutation, and we fulfill the purpose through transformation. The theme is mystical and about accepting death. Before we begin a new cycle, we release the old, we allow what needs to die to die.

ATG/AUG – The codon for Methionine; the translation initiation codon. Usually, protein translation can only start at a Methionine codon (although this codon may be found elsewhere within the protein sequence as well). In eukaryotic DNA, the sequence is ATG; in RNA it is AUG. Usually, the first AUG in the mRNA is the point at which translation starts, and an open reading frame follows – i.e. the nucleotides taken three at a time will code for the Amino acids of the protein, and a stop codon will be found only when the protein coding region is complete.

Wrapping up for The Rave New Year

From Jovian Archive, we learn there are four steps to wrapping up the year.

Stage 1 The Sun enters Gate 38

(December 30, 2021 at 23:46 UTC)

Gate 38 is Opposition, Gate of the Fighter. The energy of this gate is having the stubbornness and even the deafness to not be influenced and to overcome the odds. It is the ability to be in our own individual integrity by opposing detrimental forces because life is of value.

From the Daily View by the International Human Design School,

The 38th gate exerts pressure on us and those around us to discover the value of our own lives. There must be a reason to exist, a purpose, and something to love that elevates struggle beyond simply surviving. Backed by the energy to oppose, we are capable of forcefully confronting adversity itself. We actually enjoy a good fight. Purpose for us is enhanced when we stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves, if it is correct for us to do so. Others might experience this energy as a fierce independence, a highly focused stubbornness to meet a challenge, even death, head on. In truth, we are simply seeking a reason for living. Our determination to persevere empowers others to discern for themselves which individuating struggles have value or not.

When the Sun is in Gate 38, the opposition is in Gate 39, which is a provocative energy. Situations may arise that require our attention and focus for resolution. These two gates are part of the Right Angle Cross of Tension. People with right angle crosses focus inward. Certain tension, such as we have in the strings of a musical instrument, is required to keep things in tune. We can be out of tune, due to conditioning, which pulls us away from who we truly are.

What is out of tune in your life? Where are you out of alignment with who you truly are? What are some of your automatic and reflexive behaviour? This is time to plum the depths of who we are, to see where the misalignments are and where we can come back into tune. It’s time to look back to see if we’ve found purpose. Did we find what’s fulfilling for us?

Stage 2 The Sun enters Gate 54

(January 5, 2022 at 12:10 UTC)

Gate 54 is called the Gate of Ambition, the drive to rise up, and the time to look forward, for transformation. What else is there for you? Contemplate who your allies are, your inner circle, your most trusted friends.

From the Daily View (International Human Design School) – Gate 54 is about the “interaction in its mundane social context but also one’s mystical and cosmic relationships. Transformation is possible through the mastering of instincts.”

In I Ching, this is Kuei Mei or The Marrying Maiden, the story of the concubine, whose place of importance is secondary to the wife, or the empress. Her life is not of her own and if you are familiar with Chinese history or have seen Chinese films, you may have witnessed the machinations of the concubine who maneuvers through the household or imperial court to achieve power.

So the questions with Gate 54 include – are we driven by greed and power, a sense of lack of control, and do we push for advancements? Or do we allow the Sage within to walk and allow our inner truth to guide us through situations over which we feel we have little control. This helps us not react in anger or lack, compromise, or to abandon the situation or ourselves.

Sun Transits and Human Design

The Sun accounts for 70% of the influence on us. When the Sun transits through Gates 38 and 54, these energies influence the collective. How we experience them depends on our design and activations, and how anchored we are in our inner authority and truth.

I invite you to take this time to contemplate the questions raised and to observe how these energies play out in your life. We are not the transits. In Part 2 of this series, we will take a look at the last two stages of wrapping up the year, in preparation for the Rave New Year.
