Venus is moving into retrograde from December 19 2021 to January 29, 2022, stationing direct at 26° Capricorn, while Pluto is at 25° Capricorn. This is a potent conjunction between Venus and Pluto, the planet of deep transformation. This Venus Retrograde is an important opportunity to reflect on this long trajectory we’ve been on, about all that Venus symbolizes and the choices we’ve made these past 21+ months.
Most of us know that Venus represents sensuality, beauty, and pleasure. It is also about relationships, money, and values.
What do you truly desire? What are you attracting to you? Are your relationships harmonious and correct? Are there any beliefs around self-worth, beauty, and love that are no longer true? What about your relationship with money? Or the link between worth and money? Are your values still aligned with who you are now? Has any of them shifted, since last May, when we had the last Venus Retrograde?
Much has changed since last spring, when the world was shut down! I invite you to journey inward this retrograde and discover what has shifted for you, especially with Venus’ conjunction with Pluto this time. Pluto is about transformation, and this may mean old wounds and traumas may surface for understanding and integration.
Look at the area that is between 26° Capricorn to 11° Capricorn. What house or houses does this represent for you? Is it the 10th House or Midheaven, for you to re-evaluate whether your heart is in what you do? Maybe it’s your North Node in the Third House, with the focus on communications? Are you sharing what you love with those you love?
You may also like to review the last time Venus stationed retrograde in Capricorn, back on December 21, 2013 (28°59′ Capricorn). This particular retrograde ended on January 31, 2014 at 13° Capricorn.
At the start of a Venus Retrograde which lasts about 40 days, this planet begins as the Evening Star, rising later as the Morning Star. Her time below the horizon represents her underworld journey. Her conjunction with Pluto, which is also about death and rebirth, hints that this theme will be important.
☞ The Seed of Life is the sacred geometric image that the path of Venus around the Sun makes, during the five retrograde cycles over an eight-year period. At the mid-point of a retrograde, Venus conjuncts the Sun. This time it is at 18°Capricorn on January 18, 2022. This is extra illumination on what we are reflecting on and what want renewal in.
While Venus is our values, it becomes the law with our Jupiter. If we are still not aligning with our values and our own laws, the lessons will come through Saturn. Take a look at where your natal Jupiter and Saturn are for additional insights.
This retrograde begins with Venus at 26° Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn. I wonder what lessons will surface collectively, when we have not honoured our values and laws, such as compassion, respect, and human rights.
We may also get grounded in this earth sign, faced with material themes as we contemplate our Venus archetypes. Capricorn is also about careers, governments, and politics. Are you tired of all the politicized directives?
After Venus rises as the Morning Star on January 15, she continues to retrograde toward 11° Capricorn. At this position, she is square to Chiron and trine Uranus (whose retrograde ends January 18).
On March 1, 2022, Venus leaves the shadow, completing the retrograde. By the way, Venus entered the shadow period back in the middle of November. Between December 11, 2021 and March 3 2022, Venus is conjunct Pluto three times – December 11, December 25, and March 3.
I invite you to spend some quality time with yourself over the next three months. Look at all the places you don’t feel love, abundance, self-worth, and flow. What are your values? Is what you believe to be your calling actually yours? Is it consuming your light in a desperate and perhaps unconscious way to prove yourself? Do you have an abundant or scarcity mindset?
Venus Retrograde, Balancing & Relationships
In Jin Shin Jyutsu, we look at relationships. One is the zodiac signs and related organ function energies. Because Venus rules Libra, we can look at the flow relating to this sign, whose mantra is “We balance.” The corresponding organ function energy is the Bladder. This energy also relates the attitude of fear, which leads us to contract and freeze up. What are you ready to eliminate? What has become toxic to you? Which areas in your life would you like to thaw out? Thaw with self-love? You can help shift this attitude and support proper circulation and muscles by holding your index finger.
If you would like to work more deeply with Jin Shin Jyutsu, I offer AstroJin reports that detail your constitutional and foundational Jin Shin Flows and online sessions for you to learn various flows to support you and open you to your journey to self. I will also be offering Being Centre: 3-month Jin Shin Journey in 2022.
