New Moon Intentions From 2016 to 2017

The New Moon is the start of a new cycle. Setting new Moon intentions and wishes is a powerful way to anchor the tone of the incoming cycle and aligning with what you wish to experience.

Trina O’Gorman spends the time between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day “preparing a fresh canvas, turning over a new leaf, the space in which I will continue to create and write my story.” For her, “it is not a time for goal setting or resolution making.”

I’ve never been one to conform to doing that on January 1st because for me, that is a recipe for failure. Turning over a new leaf is different. It is about turning over the soil in which I will grow, preparing the canvas upon which I will paint life…my life.

What will you be doing this last week of 2016?

Danielle LaPorte looks at five questions for a deeper review of the year.

  • What didn’t work?
  • What did work?
  • What were the highlights?
  • What does the new year look like if it’s full of what works?
  • What do your highlights say about you?

As Trina reminds us with this Dr Who quote – “We’re all stories in the end. Make it a good one, eh?” – life is stories we write. What kind of stories do you want to create and live? What old stories are you ready to end and new stories to experience?

January 1 is the start of one cycle. There are many. We can start anew, with a new story, at anytime. January 1 happens to have a lot of momentum and newness energy as it starts a fresh calendar year for many people around the world. Beginnings and endings are always happening.

Another cycle starts with the new moon on December 29 2016 (06.53am UTC). New Moon manifesting is a potent practice. This is the time to anchor new moon intentions and wishes. It’s really about getting clarity about what we want in life, one wish, one month, one cycle at a time.

The secret of New Moon intentions and wishes manifesting according to Yasmin Boland, author of Moonology, is making the wishes or intentions from the heart and feel as if they have already happened. It is important to focus on what you WANT (not what you don’t). Always, always place your attention on the positive, on what you desire, what does it look like, feel like, smell like, sound like…

…What if you don’t know what you want?

That happens.

We forget.

We are scared to ask for what we want so we stopped wanting, at least on the scale of what we really want.

So ask.

Just ask.

And pay attention, to your feelings, messages, thoughts, synchroncities… This is how doing something like The Desire Map really helps, helps to get to your core desired feelings. Getting deep into your livelihood & lifestyle, body & wellness, creativity & learning, relationships & society, and essence & spirituality.

Take a journey into the things which you are carrying, the known-not into the unknown-into what you already know: your pleasures, your delights, your despairs, your sorrows. Take a journey into that, that is all you have.

Back to intentions and new moon intentions and wishes…

It’s about finding a way to feel good every step of the way. It’s about accomplishing things in life-affirming, rather than Soul-sucking ways.

Danielle LaPorte suggests only choosing three or four major intentions or goals for the year. Why? The big ones can take time – definitely focus – to be realized and time, as we know, can fly by. It is way better to achieve a few, and ride the momentum, than get many done halfway and feel dejected. Follow your core desired feelings to action your long term vision.

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
