Harness the Power of the Moon in Zodiac Signs

We are familiar with the Sun signs. That’s usually what we read about in magazines. What about the moon in zodiac signs? The moon spends time in each of the astrological sign. In the last week of 2016, she will move through Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Aquarius and the elements of Fire, Earth, and Air. Each sign and element has its own unique qualities and characteristics. Let’s find out what they are for these three zodiac signs and elements to enjoy greater ease in body, mind, spirit.

When the moon is in a specific sign, different energies are evoked, a flavour for each, constellated by the current astrological “weather”. Understanding this is working with moon magic.

Each astrological sign rules a different body part. The sensitivity of these body parts is heightened when the moon transits through sign. It is a good time to boost their health and condition.

Sagittarius :: hips, thighs, sciatic nerve, pituitary gland, and liver.

Capricorn ::  knees, bones, joints, skin, and teeth.

Aquarius :: ankles, calves, shins, eyes, and blood vessels.

Moon + Surgery

Old sayings caution not to touch iron on the body part ruled by the sign the moon is passing through.  It would not be advisable to have surgery on the areas mentioned above for Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Aquarius. Surgery is generally believed to be better with the moon in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), not in mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). The best is to skip during Mercury Retrograde and on the new or full moon (+/- two, three days). Observe the moon in the zodiac signs to see how you feel.

Moon in Sagittarius

The hips, thighs, sciatic nerve, pituitary gland, and liver are in focus when the moon is in Sagittarius. Relaxing massages for the muscles and Jin Shin Jyutsu for the sciatic nerve can be very beneficial. This is not the best time for that first long hike or anything that can strain these body parts. Because the liver can be more sensitive, opt for non-fatty foods and lessen other burdens on the liver.

This is a Fire element which rules seeds – apples, grapes, fruits, nuts – experiment to see if you do better or not as well with these parts of the plant and these foods on a Fire Day.

Moon in Capricorn

This is a good time to take care of the joints, bones, and skeletal system. Leave any heavy lifting for another time. Physical exertion? No! With the New Moon in Capricorn, spend time on your New Moon Manifesting/Wishing instead.

Try this Jin Shin Jyutsu hold for Osteoporosis and arthritic projects (also lubricates joints) : Left hand over the left shoulder and right hand on the elbow crease on the left elbow.

Walking in alignment is the most naturally osteogenic (bone-building) thing you can do!

Katy Bowman

According to Biomechanics expert Katy Bowman, “there is no drug or exercise that can compete with actually loading the bones correctly to send the mechanical “build bone” signal.”1 The body needs “weight-bearing exercises” to maintain bone density and the way to do this is to carry our own body weight by getting torso over hips and hips over ankles.

The Earth element rules the root of the plant and so potatoes, turnips, and onions, for example. Again experiment to see if root vegetables are easier or more challenging for you to digest.

Moon in Aquarius

If you are thinking of colouring your hair for that New Year Eve’s party, book an appointment on the 31st, when the moon is in Aquarius. Planned a night of dancing? Try going low-heeled or barefoot to reduce the strain on your legs and minimize the chance of ankle injury as they are more prone to stress while the Moon is in Aquarius. Have a nice soak in epsom salt, and if you enjoy essential oils, perhaps add a few drops of peppermint or lavender.

The Air element rules flowers. While broccoli and brussels sprouts are flowers, they tend to plant better on root days.

New Moon in Capricorn

The last new moon in 2016 is 06.53am UTC December 29.

New Moon = new beginning.

What seeds do you want to sow for harvesting on the Full Moon?

Look back one moon cycle or back to the last new moon in Capricorn (January of 2016) and see what was seeded then.

New Moons are a great time for a fast. The body is highly sensitive.

With Capricorn being an earth sign, take a look at the physical, material, and financial aspects in your life. Perhaps include a few “earthly” manifestations on this New Moon. How do you want to feel more secure? How can you take more responsibility for your life?

Of course, we can shift our entire paradigm by loving everything. In Zero Limits by Joe Vitale, he shares that Dr Hew Len said  “before I eat anything, in my mind I say to the food, ‘I love you! I love you! If I am brining anything into this situation that would cause me to feel ill as I am eating you, it’s not you! It’s not even me! It’s something that triggers that I am willing to be responsible for!’ I then go on and enjoy the meal, because now it’s clean.”2

On thoughts, Beth Moses writes in It’s All Well & Good 3:

Those that support you: Keep.
Those that don’t: Toss.
Those that disturb you: Examine.
Those that are loving: Expand.

Working with the moon’s monthly cycle and where the moon is zodiac signs is a fun and brilliant way of aligning with the elements and current energies. In this way, we can enhance our well-being and experience a more harmonious relationship with ourselves and the cosmos.
