Earth Prayers is a collection of prayers, poems, and invocations from around the earth. We’ve always revered the earth, from which we receive our sustenance and abundance and to which we release. Over time, our separation from the natural world and cycles has deepened and amplified. Nowadays many people live virtually. This past year we’ve all retreated to our homes and increased our online presence and engagement. Many had hoped it was only temporary – two weeks to flatten the curve is still going on. Yet we are social beings and being in aura with each other is a foundational aspect of our journey on this earthly plane.
As we create a new world, we can start by reconnecting with the earth and through that, a part of us that knows, that is ever listening to her whispers and singing to her in our own way.
I found this book as I was perusing the house library. They are to honour the earth. As we live in an even more rapidly-changing world, it is essential to find our own rhythm and honour the flow and ebb of our energy. Be the centre of the storm, the stillness within. Are we still stopping to smell the roses and see all, be grateful for it?
This is the prayer I flipped open to. It is an adapted Iroquois Prayer.
An Iroquois Prayer
We return thanks to our mother, the earth, which sustains us. We return thanks to the rivers and streams, which supply us with water. We return thanks to all herbs, which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases. We return thanks to the corn, and to her sisters, the beans and squashes, which give us life. We return thanks to the wind, which, moving the air has banished diseases. We return thanks to the moon and stars, which have given to us their light when the sun was gone. We return thanks to the sun, that he has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye. Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit, in whom is embodied all goodness, and who directs all things for the good for his children.
If you are feeling isolated from your friends, family, work that you love, your support network, perhaps this and this book of earth prayers may give you company. We are united in the awe of Mother Earth and the beautiful place we call home. Perhaps remembering this will give you renewed strength and inner peace to continue on this cosmic journey of ours. If you are able, take some time outside. Sit by a tree. Stand in moonlight (full moon August 22 2021). Dip into the ocean. Mother Earth heals us with her frequencies. The negative ions, the ever transmuted waters, the moonlight (BG3!)
