Why is Everyone Talking about the Supermoon?

A supermoon, coined by American astrologer Richard Nolle in the 1970s, is the name of a full moon when it is also closest to earth. The November 14 2016 supermoon in Taurus is the biggest since 1948. The supermoon, however, may not look much different than a “regular” full moon but when compared to a full moon when it’s at the furthest point away from earth? It’s 14% bigger and 30% brighter.1

Apparently the best views for this particular moon, also dubbed super supermoon, are in Asia. It will depend on how clear the skies are of course, and also where there is least light pollution. Perhaps seeing it rise over the horizon is another idea. Seek out the darkness to see the light.

Taurus rules the neck and throat

This supermoon is in Taurus and is therefore linked to the neck and throat. Those who integrate the lunar cycle into daily living believe this is not the time for surgeries on the neck or throat. It is however a good time to nourish these body parts, including the thyroid and the parathyroid.

What about a nice neck massage or a cup of soothing warm lemon water? A teaspoon of honey with cinnamon is also great for the throat and immunity in general. Drinking plenty of clean water and being hydrated is always a good idea.

The throat chakra (Vishuddha), according to Cyndi Dale, is developed and opened between 6 1/2 and 8 1/2 years of age and then each year from age 14, for every subsequent 7-year cycles, the body “reviews” any unhealed issues and wounds of the lower chakras. Is anything coming up for you from these time periods in your life? If so, it is time to release them. It is time to let go of the ego-based hurts and integrate the wisdom learned from those events.

Visshuddha in sanskrit means purification.

You can change your world by changing your words…Remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Joel Osteen

Observe also what you say and share with the world. Is it high vibrational? Is it your truth? Are you ready to sing your song, metaphorically and literally?

The element of Vishuddha is ether or space,  the essence of all other elements but without their attributes. It is potential.

Other activities to try – immersing yourself in a sound bath with singing bowls, chanting (HAM is the Hindu sound for the throat chakra), chanting with drumming, checking out your posture at the computer, wearing sky blue (the colour of the throat chakra; sometimes bright turquoise), holding your thumbs to harmonize the first depth, the earth element, and the age of 0 – 15 years (Jin Shin Jyutsu tip), and meditating to anchor high vibrations (try these free meditations from Judy Satori)

Taurus is slow but persistent and loves pleasures.

Take advantage of the Taurus energy. This is the time for any work that requires persistent effort, rather than decisiveness. Slow and steady has its rewards and the full moon in Taurus supports this approach.

It is also a good time to enjoy earthly comforts and pleasures and rest. Taurus is sensual and delights in all sensory experiences. Bathe in the glow of the supermoon and also of the radiance of who you are.

The energies for a Taurus full moon are more fertile.

This is a fantastic time for nourishing what you wish to grow. Plants, ideas, projects, etc.

Hair cut during the waxing moon phase and full moon will grow back quickly and strong. Combine this fertile energy with the power of expression of the throat chakra and let your imagination run free.

The body is absorbing at the maximum on full moons so observe the food, thoughts, emotions, and energy that you are ingesting. Some people choose the full moon (also new moon) to fast.

Full moons are for harvesting

We are receiving what was seeded in the new moon. Some people work with the immediately proceeding new moon and some say it is the corresponding new moon some six months prior. Be mindful of what happens the three days prior to and after a full moon to see what was seeded, especially on the subconscious level. This will give us an opportunity to reconfigure and plan for the next moon cycle and decide consciously and lovingly what to plant for the next cycle.

Wherever you are in the world, whether you can visually enjoy the beautiful supermoon, bathe in the amazing energies. The most important thing to remember is be fully present, be radically honest with yourself about who you really are, embrace your creativity, and know we have a choice. What do you choose to choose?
