NAET is a technique developed by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad to treat allergies and sensitivities to metals. NAET practitioners view symptoms such as pain, addictions, PMS, inflammation, and fever as undiagnosed allergies that serve as warning signs from our body that we are experiencing energy blockages, which need to be addressed before they turn into serious medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes or tumors.
In 1983 Dr Namburipad combined her knowledge of Western medicine, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Kinesiology, Chiropractic as well as Acupuncture and Acupressure to develop this technique designed to eliminate allergies in her patients. There are now over 9,000 medical and complementary health practitioners worldwide trained in NAET.
There is a protocol that practitioners follow to treat the 12 Basics, which are the most common foods and important vitamins and nutrients. Not all of the basics need to be treated and when the nutrient components are treated for, more food options open up. There is also a Brain Body Balance Formula.
The 12 Basics are:
Vitamin C Mix
B Complex Mix
Iron/ Meat Mix
Vitamin A Mix/ Fish Mix/ Shellfish Mix
Salt Mix/ Chlorides
Yeast Mix/ Candida
A treatment session involves using muscle testing to check the meridian system (overcharged/undercharged) and to check for the body’s response to the basics or other allergens being test, all diluted in vials. The practitioner also checks on which level the allergen is causing the energetic blockage – physical, nutritional, or emotional. The nutritional level is chemical, biochemical or physiological. After finding a weak response, the patient’s spinal points are stimulated, with specific breathing patterns. Trigger points, called “gates”, are then stimulated and which need to be repeated every two hours over the next 25 hours during which the patient must abstain from the allergen.
These gates are stimulated in a circular pattern from the right hand and arm to the left arm and hand, left leg and foot, right foot and leg, ending with the first point done a second time.
The order starts with the webbing between the right thumb and forefinger, outside of the right wrist (this is the emotional gate), the right arm elbow crease, the left arm elbow crease, outside of the left wrist, inside of the left shin, the webbing between the big toe and the second toe on the left foot and then on the right foot, the inside of the right shin, ending with the first point – the webbing between the right thumb and forefinger.
Is it safe?
The method works over a period of time and does not make use of harsh chemicals, nor does it require injections. As such, it appears to be safe as a preventative or holistic approach to addressing the root cause of allergies. NAET is non-invasive and natural and can be used on children as well as adults and the elderly.
However, NAET cannot treat acute anaphylactic shock and does not replace the medical attention necessary in case of an emergency, such as anaphylactic shock. Rather it works as a method for addressing the root cause of an allergy so anaphylactic shock does not occur when the patient comes into contact with the substance they exhibited allergic symptoms to prior to successful treatment with NAET.
