Tarot as a Personal Development Tool

HOW DID YOU GET INTERESTED IN TAROT?

?

I don’t know why – I became interested when I was 16. The first deck I got was from Toy ‘R us. The Marseille deck – Symbolic deck.

?

You use the Waite Deck. Why this one and why this specific Waite Deck?

?

Ms Pamela Coleman Smith and Mr Arthur Edward Waite did a lot of research. I think there are a lot of solutions, options, and views aside from the stories behind the cards that a reader can use to interpret for the querent.

Pamela Coleman Smith was a British artist, illustrator, writer, and occultist perhaps most known for her beautiful work with the Waite-Smith deck. Introduced to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn by William Butler Yeats, she met Arthur Edward Waite who later commissioned her work, completed in just six months. This deck was first published in 1909 by William Rider & Son of London and has endured as one of the most popular and beloved tarot decks and has since inspired many variations.

CARDS LIKE THE TOWER AND DEATH FREAK PEOPLE OUT. WHAT DO THESE REALLY MEAN?

?

The Tower always indicates surprise. Life is filled with surprises or unforeseen circumstances. All impermanent. I always advise my clients by checking other cards, to see if precautions are needed, if something unpleasant, like termination of employment, may happen. If the Tower card is upright then a pleasant surprise is going to happen soon.

Death is always a good card to me as it is considered a transformation in life, or a change of mindset for a better future or somehow for our benefit. In life everyone needs transformation in the different states of life. Even if you are content or living a simple life, enhancing your knowledge and wisdom bring more awareness and fulfillment.

?

What is the difference between divination and your approach with the Body-Mind-Alignment Method?

?

Divination sometimes can be based on feeling, whereas the body-mind-soul alignment method is to use the card spreads and asking further questions from the querent to analyze the cards to find more solutions and options for the querent. We learn to interpret the cards based on our experience and knowledge.

Those who have knowledge don’t predict. Thos who predict, don’t have knowledge.

Can Anyone Read Tarot?

?

Yes, it is for anyone who is interested to know more about tarot and especially trying to help their querent to carry out “a reading session with mindfulness and compassion.”

?

Does tarot also help develop intuition and greater self-knowledge?

?

Everyone is intuitive and it depends on how much we trust and how to read our intuition. Tarot is a a good tool for us to guide our intuition, rather than just using our feelings alone to guide ourselves. Sometime our intuition can be restricted by our thought patterns and limited knowledge around certain issues. Using tarot lets you see different points of view. Greater self-knowledge is to enhance our wisdom to do the right things to create a better future.

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.

?

Carl Jung was interested in tarot. How does tarot relate to the subconscious?

?

Tarot is guidance to bring awareness to our subconscious. Tarot can bring understanding and strike balance between the subconscious and conscious and let us make better choices in life.
